Our Story

At the age of 12 founding board member, Markevis Gideon, was given his first computer by a teacher from Talley Middle School. Though the computer was extremely old and bulky, it changed his life for the better. 

It lead him to apply to a Vo-Tech high school, Howard High School of Technology, where his concentration was the Computer Network Administration Program. Here he would learn skills and pass certifications leading towards several Microsoft certifications. 

After college he lived abroad in China for over 5 years where he developed his inner entrepreneurial skills. Upon returning to America he knew he wanted to start a business, but wasn’t sure what. But he did know that he wanted to give back to the communities that has given so much to him. He knew he could do this by donating computers. To do this he began NERDiT Now, a computer company who’s mission was to donate over 100 computers every year. 

After doing this for three years, The NERDiT Foundation was officially founded in 2018, after meeting Jasmine, Tyler and Jake, who came together with the goal of spreading technology to communities in need all over the world! 

Transferring over all of our community outreach from NERDiT NOW to the NERDiT Foundation together have already donated over 300 computers to low income families and non-profit organizations committed to serve them in the Sri-State area. Some technology even reaching as far as Ghana Africa.

At a young age we were all introduced to technology and saw how it has had a huge impact on our lives. Now we are not sure if this technology will help everyone we donate a computer to become another tech entrepreneur but if we can e that helping hand to someone who needs the technology to study in school, apply for scholarships/jobs, or connect with family members who may be in distant lands, we are here to end that divide.
